Christie New dies from injuries, St. Pete Police look for tips

43-year-old Christie L. New, who  was found badly injured in a St. Petersburg park on Mar.1, has died from her injuries and now St. Petersburg Police are looking for information from the public on the case.

Just after 11:30am on Thursday, March 1, 2018, a city park worker discovered Christie New suffering from life-threatening trauma in Lake Maggiore Park on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street S and 40th Avenue.

She was taken to the hospital and died Wednesday.

Christie’s sister, Deanna New, who lives in Birmingham said, “She had driven to Ocala to take her horses to a trainer that’s there, and they were going to be doing some work. That was on Tuesday. That was the last I spoke with her.”

It is not known why she was in St. Petersburg.
