Cirque du Soleil performer, Yann Arnaud, dies from fall at Tampa VOLTA show

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group reported today that aerialist, Yann Arnaud, 38 had died from his injuries following a fall onto the stage during a Saturday evening performance of VOLTA at Tampa’s Under the Big Top, located by the Tampa Greyhound Track on Nebraska Avenue.

Arnaud, a veteran of the performance group for 15 years, was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

“The entire Cirque du Soleil family is in shock and devastated by this tragedy. Yann Arnaud had been with us for over 15 years and was loved by all who had a chance to know him”, Cirque du Sleil CEO, Daniel Lamarre said. “Over the coming days and weeks, our focus will be on supporting Yann’s family and our performers, especially the VOLTA team, as we go through these difficult times together.”

The two Sunday shows, the last ones in Tampa, were cancelled.
