Franciscan Center sets free animal and pet blessing for October 4

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will bring the city’s official dog, Alcaldesa, and the public is invited to bring their pets and favorite creatures to the Franciscan Center on Friday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. for a free festival where animals will be blessed and celebrated, in recognition of World Animal Day and the Feast of St. Francis.

This neighborhood event will feature live music from Joey Donovan and the Lint Rollers, pet-friendly vendors, a pet blessing and animal-themed activities – including pet yoga – for the whole family. It’s all on the beautiful riverfront grounds of the Franciscan Center, 3010 N. Perry Ave., Tampa, FL 33603.

“We are expanding on the annual Franciscan Center pet blessing in an inclusive community, even honoring the special bond that exists between humans and animals,” says Franciscan Center CEO Wendy Leigh.

The Franciscan Center is a non- profit, 501(3)(c), private retreat house sponsored by Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY with dedicated laity who are committed in carrying out the mission.
