Feeding Tampa Bay was facing a huge shortage of donations, and a significant increase in need for assistance. David and Christina Laxer, and The Laxer Family Foundation answered the call. Haven’s staff has agreed to donate all gratuities during the shutdown to the relief cause, in order to support charities like Feeding Tampa Bay.
“We feed people, it’s what we do. As a long time staple of the Tampa Bay Community, we want to give back, and at these unprecedented times, this was crucial. We are proud to support Feeding Tampa Bay and the families they serve.” Says David Laxer, Proprietor of Bern’s Steak House, Haven and Founder of the Laxer Family Foundation.
“As we consider the growing need for hunger relief – children who are out of school, seniors who are homebound and families who are facing a gap in wages – Feeding Tampa Bay is focusing all of our efforts on covering both the 600,000 people we already serve 365 days a year, as well as stepping into gaps created by the crisis.” says Kelley Sims, Chief Development Officer at Feeding Tampa Bay. “This donation from the Laxer Family Foundation, and the team at Haven, will allow us to get the needed food directly onto the tables of those who need it the most.”
