New Tampa Players’ sets ‘Beauty and the Beast’ performance on July 28 to fund UACDC

Proceeds from the New Tampa Players’ performance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast performance on Thursday, July 28 will benefit the community, via the non-profit University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC).

Tickets will be sold on a “pay what you can” basis at the door to the July 28 7:30 p.m. performance, held at the University Area Community Center at 14013 N. 22nd St., Tampa, 33613.

Beauty-and-the-Beast-footage-D23This beloved tale of the brave, kind-hearted and beautiful bookworm and an arrogant prince transformed into a monstrous beast will be directed by Kari Ann Stamatoplos and choreographed by Jarrett W. Koski, with musical direction by G. Frank Meekins.

“We’re excited for this opportunity. It’s a family friendly show, and the fact that people can pay as little or as much as they choose makes it accessible to our community and also provides a simple way for people to support our programs in a way that fits their budget,” said Wendy Leigh, UACDC chief development and marketing officer.

The UACDC Community Center offers an array of affordable programs and services for the community, including computer training, youth and adult sports leagues, performing arts classes for children, performance spaces, a gym and a brand new pavilion.

Proceeds from this performance will go toward the UACDC mission of providing support for thousands of Tampa residents through youth programs, adult education and resource assistance. Its primary mission is the redevelopment and sustainability of the at-risk areas surrounding University of South Florida’s Tampa campus.
