Patel Conservatory adds ‘Music Together’ and ‘Rhythm Makers’ to enrich children’s love of music

The Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center is offering enriching music classes for children as young as newborn.

Music Together – In partnership with Allisongs for Tots, the Patel Conservatory offers Music Together, for newborns through five year-olds. This internationally recognized music and movement program is for children and their caregivers. This weekly class is held Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.; tuition is $100 per month.

Activities in the Music Together class are presented as informal, nonperformance oriented musical experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for their caregivers. Each family receives two professionally recorded DVDs, a beautifully illustrated songbook with family activity suggestions, and a DVD and guide for parents and caregivers: Music Together ® at Home: Helping Your Child Grow Musically.

Rhythm Makers – Students in grades three to five explore Orff instruments, Boomwhackers and drums by playing music from around the world. In this energetic and fun group setting, students learn basic music reading applied to performing with percussion instruments. Classes are held on Mondays from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuition is $44 per month and scholarships are available.
