Patel Conservatory presents ‘Spring Music Spectacular: Made in America’

Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts presents “Spring Music Spectacular: Made in America”

The performance will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Hall.

The Spring Music Spectacular: Made in America event proves to be an evening centered on American music with old favorites and new masterworks in the making, featuring the Patel Conservatory’s music department and Community Partner performance groups. This performance is sponsored in part by Valley Bank.

This night of historical American music-making includes performances by Patel Conservatory’s Chamber Strings, Vocal Arts choirs, Suzuki Violin students and the culminating project of students who participated in the Straz Center Jazz Project.

The Straz Jazz Project, led by Fred Johnson and his team of teaching artists James Crumbly and Michael Ross, worked with four community partner high school jazz ensembles and the Patel jazz ensemble to form one large jazz orchestra. Partner schools involved are Seminole, River Ridge, Blake and Gibbs High Schools. The group will perform two pieces: a jazz standard and an original jazz composition written by our teaching artists.

Regularly priced tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the Straz Center Ticket Sales Office or online at www.strazcenter.org. Handling fees will apply.
