St Pete crash kills Don Hayghe while riding a scooter, other driver Kendall Boykins not charged yet

A 51-year-old man on a scooter died after a crash in St. Petersburg late Sunday.

According to St. Petersburg police, the crash happened on 34th Street and Queensborough Avenue South just after 11 p.m.

Don Rowland Hayghe, 51, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was taken after the crash.

Police Hayghe was northbound on 34th Street South in the center lane when a southbound driver in a Ford F150 attempted a left turn, going into the path of the scooter.

Hayghe, who was not wearing a helmet, struck the side of the Ford, causing a massive injury.

The driver of the Ford truck, Kendall Boykins, 36, and his four passengers were not injured.

Police said alcohol may have played a part in the crash and an investigation is ongoing.
