Tampa sleep technician Andrew Chickoree charged with groping female patients while during sleep studies

The New Port Richey Police Department detailed the case surrounding the battery charges against Andrew Chickoree for inappropriately touching female patients during sleep studies.

Andrew Chickoree

Chickoree, 52, of Pasco County, Florida, just north of Tampa, was arrested Tuesday on one count of sexual battery and another count of battery after women came forward with allegations.

“Female victims alleged (Chickoree) touched them inappropriately in a sexual manner during the sleep studies he was administering,” police say.

Det. Ed Campbell explained that Chickoree would tell women patients that he needed to touch them in order for the sleep studies to be successful.

“We’re not getting good readings. I need to do this in order to get better readings on the electrodes that were connected to her,” Campbell said, pointing to women’s complaints at sleep centers in New Port Richey and Zephyrhills.

Police also said inappropriate touching was caught on camera.

Police believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information come forward.

Anyone who previously was a patient involved in a sleep study in which Chickoree was involved and who believes they might have been a victim is asked to contact Detective Campbell at 727-232-8902.
