BAY PINES VA HEALTHCARE SYSTEM TO HOST INVITE-ONLY DRIVE-THROUGH BABY SHOWER AT C.W. BILL YOUNG VA MEDICAL CENTER

Today, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System announced they will host their second drive-through baby shower of the season at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 6. The C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center is located at 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33744.

“We’re so happy to offer this event to women Veterans who are expecting new additions to their families,” said Bay Pines VA’s Women Veteran Program Manager Donna Sherman. “We have such a great turnout each year, and it’s the best feeling to know we have an opportunity to be a small part of their maternity health care journey.”

Bay Pines VA’s women’s health program is leading this effort for the fifth-consecutive year. Women Veterans who are registered in the organization’s maternity care program have already received their invitations.

Thanks to the efforts of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement at Bay Pines VA, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the Florida State Elks Association, the healthcare system will be able to provide $30,000 worth of donated baby items for the drive-through event. Bay Pines VA also held a baby shower at its Lee County Health Care Center on April 29. The donated items were split evenly among attendees at both events.

During the event, each expectant mother will receive multiple items that include, but are not limited to, car seats, pacifiers, strollers, diapers, and clothing. Our staff will also be on hand to provide health care resources to support them as they welcome their newest editions to the family. Bay Pines VA is proud to host this event as VA marks its 100th year of serving women Veterans.
