Brandon WaWa robber, Wilberto Robledo Rios, arrested

On Thursday night, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s arrested a man responsible for an armed robbery in Brandon.

According to authorities, 25-year-old Wilberto Robledo Rios entered the WaWa gas station at 1710 W Brandon Boulevard in Brandon, where he pointed a firearm at employees and demanded cash. Rios obtained nearly $1,000 before fleeing the store.

Deputies and other assets quickly responded to the scene where they spotted Rios running on Lakewood Drive and jumping a fence to the Lakewood Shores apartment complex. A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Corporal jumped the fence and ran after the suspect. The foot pursuit lasted about 60 yards before the suspect was captured. His firearm and the stolen cash were recovered.

Rios is charged with Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (X3), Resisting Arrest without Violence and Violation of Probation.
