Evelyn Woodham murder: police seeking James Scott, a serial violent criminal

Investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office have issued an arrest warrant in connection with last month’s murder of a Tampa Bay area woman whose body was found in a ditch. Evelyn Woodham’s body was found in a ditch in Palm River, the first of November.

The woman’s body was spotted near the intersection of 20th Avenue South and 58th Street South by a person riding by on horseback.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of James Luis Scott, 22, a violent repeat offender, who is considered armed and dangerous. Scott is known as “Snoop” and faces first-degree murder.

Scott is facing one count of first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Woodham. Authorities say the suspect is no stranger to law enforcement and was already on felony probation at the time of this incident.

Since 2012 Scott has been arrested 20 times in Hillsborough County on a variety of charges including drug possession, tampering with a witness, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, assault and battery.

Woodham suffered blunt force trauma to her upper body. She too had faced charges in Hillsborough County, including for prostitution.
