Florida has vaccinated the most seniors

Florida officials announced that nearly 350,000 seniors have been vaccinated to date, more than any other state in the nation that’s reporting updates.

The state continues to prioritize vaccine access to seniors age 65 and older – a strategy that initially went above and beyond recommended guidelines issued by the federal government.

Governor Ron DeSantis has made this a priority. Florida is home to more than 4.5 million seniors, and both nationwide and in Florida, seniors 65 and older have more severe risks, accounting for more than 80% of all COVID related deaths.

DeSantis recently announced the expansion of the state’s partnership with Publix to establish COVID-19 vaccination sites at select Publix locations in Florida.

New Vaccination sites will be established at 26 select Publix locations throughout five counties in Northwest Florida: five in Bay County, six in Escambia County, three in Walton County, seven in Okaloosa County, and five in Santa Rosa County.

These vaccination sites are in addition to the 22 Publix locations in Citrus, Hernando, and Marion counties that Governor DeSantis announced last week.
