I didn’t realize they were back, at least in the form of a spouse, but the notorious name ever linked to Twitter and the Resist Trump movement–Krassenstein popped up the feed recently.
Just a reminder if you’ve long forgot the Krassenstein Brothers, they amassed well over one million Twitter followers slamming every move Trump, or anyone associated with Trump made with an endless supply of tweets–some so foolish that it branded IMPEACH TRUMP 2018 dozens of times.
Twitter eventually gave them the boot in May 2019 for “operating multiple fake accounts and purchasing account interactions”, which they adamantly deny.
Anyway, enough about them because the wife of one of the brothers, Heidi, has taken the reins of their Twitter world.
First time I’ve seen her presence on the platform and I want to make some corrections to that particula tweet.
She writes:
If you are equating communism in Cuba with Democratic-Socialism that we see in Scandinavian countries, Canada and much of the developed world, then you have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.
There are several important errors associated with this ill-informed tweet.
Mrs. Krassenstein falsely claims that Scandinavia is Democratic Socialist–“Democratic-Socialism that we see in Scandinavian countries”
We can simply look at one part of the definition of Democratic Socialism, right from their website, and then compare it to what’s happening in Scandinavia:
“We want to collectively own the key economic drivers that dominate our lives, such as energy production and transportation.”
Sounds remarkably like the definitions outlined with International Socialist Organization and Communist Party USA.
This is NOT Scandinavia. Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark all have a public stock exchange, some going back a couple of centuries.
90 percent of Scandinavia’s wealth is privately owned. It’s a largely decentralized economy. In fact, it can be argued that the Scandinavian countries are economically freer than the US. Their is no minimum wage.
Denmark and Finland rank ahead of the United States in the 2021 Index of Economic Freedom, while Sweden is one spot behind the US.
This blog is too short to list all the economic reasons why Scandinavia is not Democratic Socialist.
Even the former Prime Minister of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen said at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government a few years ago: “I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy.”
What Mrs. Krassenstein is confusing is Democratic Socialism with Social democracy, which more accurately describes the “Nordic model” or what’s happening in Scandinavia.
Social democracy has a mostly capitalistic economy with large-scale social welfare programs. And some of these countries have been reducing the tax burden and the social welfare.
It can be argued that Democratic Socialism, a façade for sure, is much closer to the communism of Cuba than the economies of Scandinavia.
I think it would be wise for Mrs. Krassenstein and/or the brothers to bone up on their knowledge before tweeting: “you have no idea what the hell you’re talking about.”
