‘Meatball Ron’: Trump continues his schtick, How DeSantis should handle it

It wasn’t that long ago the nicknames, “Low-energy Jeb”, “Lyin’ Ted” and “Little Marco” were the mainstay of the 2016 Presidential election and debates. Of course, this was the strategy of eventual winner, Donald Trump.

And it worked. Trump got every one of his opponents of their game with the childish, yet effective course of action.

Well, not surprisingly, Donald Trump has pulled out the old playbook as he “prepares” for what many believe, an eventual showdown with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“Ron DeSanctimonious” has already been pulled out of the holster without much effect, so Trump has returned to the drawing board.

It has been reported that Trump is testing out a couple of new nicknames–“Meatball Ron” and “Shutdown Ron”, demonstrating that the former President truly lacks in self-awareness.

So how should DeSantis handle these “Romper room” tactics?

I suggest, ignore him and not let him get into your head. As mentioned earlier, he did see a lot of success using name-calling.

However, I don’t think the public is that enthralled with this move years later and clearly the nation needs a clear thinking, constitutionally-minded Executive.

If Trump does these antic at a debate, which he undoubtedly will, just turn to him and say, “That’s mature” and move on to answer the questions with constitutionally sound policy prescriptions, political philosophy and your political record.

Do not fall into that trap!
