Miguel Angel Castillo-Hernandez identified in Sarasota murder suicide, killing his 2-year-old daughter

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office have identified Miguel Angel Castillo-Hernandez in the Florida murder suicide which also left his 2-year-old daughter dead.

Castillo-Hernandez, 34, was identified in a BOLO search in the wake of Friday night to reports of a “family disturbance” the 3600 block of Stardust Place around 7:30 p.m.

Police found the man and the toddler in a wooded area near the northeast corner of Bee Ridge Road and Honore Avenue. Deputies on the scene attempted aid on both victims but were unsuccessful.

The child was transported to Doctors Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

While details are not confirmed, authorities have stated that both deaths are believed to have been the result of asphyxiation.

According to the sheriff’s office, there are no additional suspects in the case because the deaths are thought to be the result of a murder-suicide.

An official cause of death will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date.
