Peru: Dr. Rosa Gutierrez Palomino takes the helm at the Ministry of Health

On Saturday, in a ceremony held at the Government Palace, the surgeon Rosa Bertha Gutierrez Palomino assumed the position of Minister of Health before the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte Zegarra.

“For the memory of my mother and for the vulnerable populations of our country, I do swear,” said the minister upon taking office.

Gutierrez Palomino replaces the surgeon Kelly Portalatino Ávalos, who was in charge of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) from October 27, 2022 to December 7 of this year.
The new head of the Minsa had been serving, since November, as general director of the General Directorate of Health Operations (DGos) and, before that, as deputy director in the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (Diris) East Lima.
Also, she was director of Hospital II Ramón Castilla, Red Prestacional Almenara during the period from September 25, 2018 to May 20, 2019. Likewise, she has been an official in the regional governments of Áncash and Ayacucho
Rosa Gutierrez is a surgeon with 24 years and 4 months of experience in Health Services Management in the public and private spheres; medical specialist in Health Administration from the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia (UPCH); mg. in Health Services Management from the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM); mg. in Public Health from the San Cristóbal de Huamang National University (UNSCH). She also holds a doctorate in Medicine from UNMSM.
