Transcript proves Trump’s Ukraine scandal is a ‘nothing burger’ and he campaigns off it

A famous line in Return of the Jedi came from the obscure character, Admiral Ackbar, as the empire attacked the rebels: “It’s a trap!”

That is a message echoed about the Democrat attack on President Trump over a call with Ukraine’s president, allegedly offering a quid pro quo deal for aide and the investigation in Hunter Biden. As the impeachment frenzy ramps up, Trump released the transcript and the truth is clear: this is a nothing burger.

Tim Pool, who warned how this impeachment topic will hijack the Democratic debate, distracting from real important topics, now breaks down the transcript.

“It is a nothing burger. There is nothing here,” Pool says, pointing to Democrats were “over-hyping” the story, before covering some of the new conspiracy theories.

“This story is just ridiculous.”

Pool explains: “The best they can say is that it was a ‘Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.’ I’m sorry, you can’t impeach someone based off a ‘Wink, wink, nudge, nudge’.”

Then Pool quotes Wall Street Journals’ Kimberley Strassel’s tweet summary:

“1) Having read DOJ’s Trump-Ukraine release, here’s the real story: This is another internal attempt to take out a president, on the basis of another non-smoking-gun.

“2)As to call transcript itself: Trump’s actual “favor” is that Ukraine look backward, to what happened in the 2016 election. This is a legitimate ask, since election meddling looks to have come from both Russia and Ukraine.”

He continues: “3)(Indeed, this is a big enough issue that we find out this morning that U.S. Attorney John Durham is looking at what role the Ukraine played in the FBI investigation.)

4)It is actually Zelensky who brings up Rudy Giuliani—saying they can’t wait to “meet him.” And it is Zelensky who references “that investigation,” as he goes on to promise that “all investigations will be done openly and candidly.”

Trump reacts by releasing a fundraising video, raising over $1 million within in hours.

“Democrats have one sole focus,” Trump’s new impeachment-themed fundraising video states before presenting a series of Democratic lawmakers — including presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) and “Squad” members Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI) and Ilhan Omar (MN) — repeatedly calling for Trump’s impeachment. “If we don’t impeach this president, he will get re-elected,” says Rep. Al Green (D-TX).

“It’s time to stop this nonsense,” Trump says at a rally. “They think they’re going to win. Did you see the one man? He says, it’s the only way we’re going to beat him in 2020 … Well that’s a compliment, I guess. But think of what he said. It’s the only way they’re going to beat me. And actually it’s working the other way, because now we have our best poll numbers that we’ve ever had.”

The video ends with Trump supporters chanting “Four more years!”
