Trump and DeSantis are statistically tied in Florida for the 2024 GOP nomination: Poll

According to a new Victory Insights poll, two Florida residents, former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis are in a dead heat for the Republican nomination in the Sunshine State.

The poll published on May 28 shows Gov. DeSantis with 38.2% , a 0.2% lead over Mr. Trump. All other candidates are in the low single digits. 12% of the electorate remains undecided.

In addition, if the race was between the two only, mano a mano, DeSantis’s lead is 1.2% (DeSantis 40.2%  vs Trump 39%). DeSantis’s 1.2% lead is well within the poll’s margin of error, meaning the two frontrunners are statistically tied. More than 20% of voters remain undecided.

DeSantis has for over a year maintained stronger favorability numbers than Trump in Florida. DeSantis boasts an overall score of 3.92 out of 5, besting Trump’s 3.64.

Should Gov. DeSantis even entered the race? According to the poll, a slim majority (54%) agreed
that he made the right decision, while the rest (46%) wished that he had stayed out of it–– some voters like DeSantis very much, but want him to remain Governor instead of attempting to ascend to the presidency.
