West Nile virus: Increased activity prompts advisory in Hillsborough County to remain

The Mosquito-Borne Illness Advisory issued for Hillsborough County remains in effect. There has been an increase in West Nile virus activity observed in sentinel chickens in Hillsborough County. The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough) reminds the public to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and to take basic precautions to help limit exposure.

To protect yourself from mosquitoes, you should remember to “Drain and Cover”:

DRAIN standing water to stop mosquitoes from multiplying.

COVER skin with clothing or repellent.

COVER doors and windows with screens to keep mosquitoes out of your house.
