Trump gets “Red Finger” and Democrats claim it’s Syphilis, Blood or Childish Behavior

A picture of former United States President Trump recently created a buzz online. The picture, below, showed his hand with red markings when he was photographed on January 17 leaving his Manhattan apartment. From childish behavior in a court room to a diagnosis of “the clap,” Democrats were quick to speculate with outlandish theories.

Hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” questioned whether the blemishes were magic marker, blood or something that may have been caused by Trump slamming his hands on the table “like a child” during his defamation trial.

Theories also explained away the red marks were rash caused by his golf club grip or a fall.

George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences Professor Jonathan Reiner theorized on X that Trump could have injured himself, noting “it’s not uncommon for 77 yo people to fall.”

Joshua Zeichner, an associate professor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, told Business Insider Trump may simply have a rash that could be caused by a variety of factors, ranging from his golf club grip to dry hands.

Democratic strategist James Carville didn’t mince words: “They don’t look like cuts to me . . . I think there’s a good chance this man has the clap,” he said Wednesday on the Politicon podcast, noting he consulted “a number” of doctors who all came to the consensus that Trump has “secondary syphilis.”

Reality can be less interesting, as the markings were caused by blood from a paper cut, according to a TMZ report. The images of Trump were shared hours later the same day and they showed the marks had vanished.
