Walter Williams, NEWS TALK, Mike Huckabee: Democrats running big cities blamed for systemic racism, police brutality

This week’s NEWS TALK with BRANDON & BOB discussed the pattern of Democrats running the biggest cities where police brutality and systemic racism are being alleged.

Dr. Walter E. Williams began this week’s column with the same assessment.

“While it might not be popular to say in the wake of the recent social disorder, the true plight of black people has little or nothing to do with the police or what has been called “systemic racism.” Instead, we need to look at the responsibilities of those running our big cities.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Tuesday that defunding or disbanding U.S. police departments is not the answer to nationwide protests against police brutality, arguing for the ouster of Democrats who run cities with the most problems.

In an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Huckabeen asserted that “What we need to do is get rid of some of these Democratic mayors who are running the cities where the most problems are…That’s what I think is missing here in the analysis.”

Check out the NEWS TALK clip below, which argue the same point.

“STOP generically telling us to VOTE in response to all of the police brutality we have right now,” said Black Lives Matters’ Shaun King. “Yes we should vote. But we have to be VERY specific. Democrats, from top to bottom, are running the cities with the worst police brutality in America right now. We voted for them.”

“Minneapolis has been dominated by Democrat mayors for more than 40 years. If systemic racism exists in the Minneapolis police force it has been enabled by Democrat leaders for more than 40 years,” Brandon Jones recounted from an article at TwinCities.com titled: “You own this, Minneapolis and Minnesota Democrats.”

Williams summarizes: “Some cities — such as Detroit, Buffalo, Newark and Philadelphia — haven’t elected a Republican mayor for more than a half-century. On top of this, in many of these cities, blacks are mayors, often they dominate city councils, and they are chiefs of police and superintendents of schools.”

“White liberals and black politicians focus most of their attention on what the police do, but how relevant is that to the overall tragedy?” he asks.

“Most of the cities where there is real trouble are completely run and have been for decades by Democrat mayors with liberal ideas,” Huckabee pointed out.

“It doesn’t work. And, maybe they ought to wake up to that,” Huckabee concluded.
