Disney says their diversity training, ‘Reimagine Tomorrow’ has been ‘distorted’ and deletes the program

The Walt Disney Company has responded to the leaked documents of their program called “Reimagine Tomorrow” that is allegedly centered on “diversity and inclusion.”

The program, leaked by journalist Christopher F. Rufo,  asks employees to complete a “white privilege checklist,” and tells employees to “pivot” from the “norm of white dominate culture” to something such as “collectivism.”

Reimagine Tomorrow contains training modules on “systemic racism,” “white privilege,” “white fragility,” “white saviors,” “microaggressions,” and “anti-racism.”

Disney’s statement: “These internal documents are being deliberately distorted as reflective of company policy, when in fact their purpose was to allow diversity of thought and discussion on the incredibly complex and challenging issues of race and discrimination that we as a society and companies nationwide are facing.

The Disney brand has a long history of inclusivity, with stories that reflect acceptance and tolerance and celebrate people’s differences, as we have consistently demonstrated in such popular films as Moana, Coco, Black Panther, Soul and Raya and the Last Dragon, and as a global entertainment company we are committed to continuing to tell stories that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience.”

Responding on Twitter, Rufo said Disney is being dishonest.

“Disney has released a statement claiming that my reporting ‘distorted’ their antiracism program. This is false. I published direct quotations, contextual screenshots, and the original source documents in their entirety. Disney is distorting the truth — and I won’t stand for it,” Rufo said.

In fact, Rufo said Disney is being hypocritical, pointing out its weird relationship with China and the fact that Disney’s executive leadership team is comprised of white men.

“Disney claims to value ‘inclusivity,’ but the company has: -Used slave and child labor in poor countries -Filmed ‘Mulan’ near Uighur concentration camps -Censored content for the CCP -Shrinked a black actor in Chinese promotional materials,” Rufo said. “The Magic Kingdom is a house of lies.”

“I challenge Disney’s executive team to walk the walk: they should complete the ‘white privilege’ checklist they provided to employees and share the results publicly,” he continued. “Otherwise, they’re fake antiracists, using buzzwords to deflect attention from their moral transgressions.”

Disney also has now deleted the program in less than 24 hours of the backlash.
