An active shooter training event is set for today to education the St. Petersburg community. The St. Petersburg Police and St. Petersburg Fire Rescue are partnering to help prepare citizens for the scenario which “you hope to never find yourself in.”
St. Pete Police and Fire will host the seminar Thursday evening at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg. The program was developed by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University.
Citizens will be taught the avoid, deny, defend strategy.
The event is free to attend, but you are asked to RSVP as seating is limited.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the seminar runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
